העיטור שמקבלות חיות שפעלו בחירוף נפש ואף הצילו בני אדם

עיטור הגבורה ומדליית הכבוד, הם עיטורים הניתנים לחיילים בעבור מעשה גבורה יוצא דופן, תוך חירוף נפש ומעל ומעבר לתפקיד. והצלב של ג'ורג' ניתן כאות לגבורה שלא מול פעילות אויב. אבל מה לגבי חיות שפעלו בחירוף נפש ואף הצילו בני אדם?
מדליית ה - PDSA היא עיטור גבורה לחיות שבתחילה הוענק רק באנגליה, אך מאז הוענק גם לחיות נוספות ברחבי העולם. העיטור מוענק לחיות אשר סיכנו את חייהן למען הצלת אנשים או חיות אחרות, וגם לחיות אשר נפצעו או מתו במסגרת שירות צבאי או משטרתי.
מדליית ה PDSA הוענקה עד כה ל-24 חיות, כולן כלבים - והנה חלק מן החיות הגיבורות:
אנדל הלברדור (שסבל ממחלת הפרקים אוסטיאוכרונדוסיס) - קיבל את המדליה ב-2002. הוא הציל את בעליו - אלן - לאחר שזה נפגע ממכונית ונפל חסר הכרה מכסא הגלגלים שלו. אנדל משך את אלן לפוזיציה בטוחה הרחק מכלל סכנה, נכנס מתחת למכונית והחזיר את הטלפון הנייד שלו, הוציא שמיכה וכיסה את אלן - ואז רץ לקרוא לעזרה במלון סמוך.
אורקה - קיבל את המדליה ב-2006. הוא הציל את בעליו שריל, לאחר שהיא נפלה לתעלת מים עם כסא הגלגלים שלה. אורקה ניסה לשחרר אותה, ולאחר שלא הצליח, רץ להזעיק עזרה. עוברת אורח שעברה בסביבה חשבה שמדובר בכלב נטוש וניסתה לקחת אותו משם. אורקה עשה מעשה בניגוד לאימונים שלו - וקרע את הרצועה של עצמו, ברח מן האישה וניסה לחפש מישהו אחר שיבין אותו. לאחר זמן ממושך הוא מצא מתעמל בפארק שהבין אותו - ובא אחריו לעזרה. שריל הייתה זקוקה לטיפול דחוף נגד היפותרמיה, אך חייה ניצלו.
הסיפור המרגש ביותר הוא של ג'ורג' , כלב מגזע ג'ק ראסל.
ג'ורג' קיבל את המדליה ב2009, שנתיים לאחר מותו. ג'ורג' קיפח את חייו לאחר שהגן על חמישה ילדים שאיתם שיחק. הילדים הותקפו על ידי שני כלבי פיטבול משוטטים. ג'ורג' שם את עצמו בין הילדים לבין הכלבים, והגן עליהם במחיר חייו. ג'ורג' נבח על הכלבים וניסה לקפוץ עליהם כדי להרחיק אותם מהילדים. למרות שכלבי הפיטבול המשיכו לנשוך ולפצוע אותו, הוא לא וויתר עד שהילדים התרחקו מספיק מהמקום, והזעיקו עזרה. לצערינו העזרה הגיע מאוחר מדי, והפציעות שג'ורג' סבל מהן היו קשות מדי - ולכן נאלצו להרדימו.

תרומות וסיוע כלכלי יכולים למנוע את סכנת הסגירה בה נמצא פרוייקט יהב

לפני כמעט שנתיים החליטו מקימי פקוייקט יהב לא לשבת מהצד ולהתלונן והתחילו לחלץ כלבים הכי מסכנים ומהמקומות הכי מסוכנים. בלי פחד, בלי מחשבה, פרט להקשבה ללב.
הפעילות נעשתה ברכב יונדאי שנת 2000 , גרוטאה שחלצה  מעל ל-150 כלבים, רובם מסוכנים מאוד.
היום, שנתיים אחרי, היונדאי הישנה כבר עייפה ולא תקינה, חשבון הבנק שלי צועק הצילו ובהעדר חוות שיקום, אין לעמותה לאן לחלץ כלבים נוספים.
אז עם כל הכבוד (לא בציניות) לתמיכה ולפירגון - עם תמיכה ופירגון לא משלמים לפנסיון, לא בונים חווה וגם לא נכנסים למכולת וקונים לחם.
פעילי הפרוייקט מודים מקרב לב לכל מי שהיה, עזר, תמך ותרם וגם לבעלי ההון שגררו וטירטרו את חברי העמותה לפגישות ולשיחות במשך שבועות רק כדי לצאת בידיים ריקות ולב כואב - גם אתם חלק מההתפכחות!
פעילי הפרוייקט חייבים להמשיך את הפעילות ולהציל כלבים מחיי סבל מלאי קרבות עד המוות ולטפל בכלבים שכבר חולצו ונמצאים תחת חסותם, בעיקר את הכלבים שעדיין לא חולצו ועכשיו בוודאות גם לא יחולצו מהגיהנום בו הם נמצאים ללא מימון.
כרגע יש 9 כלבים ניצולי קרבות בחסות העמותה שהפעילים בצער רב ייאלצו למצוא להם פתרון קבע אחר כדי שחלילה לא יגיעו להסגר ויורדמו. עד למציאת פתרון קבוע, פעילי פרוייקט יהב לנסות ולגייס תרומות בכדי להשאירם בפנסיון הקיים.
היום ההכנסות של הפרוייקט מהוראות קבע הן 1,000 ש"ח בחודש - סכום מגוחך לכל הדיעות ובכדי שהפרוייקט יקים את הקמת חווה, פרוייקט יהב זקטק למימון קבוע, להכנסה קבועה של לפחות 15,000 ש"ח בחודש עבור הוצאות שכירות, טיפול רפואי, מזון ועוד. זה בהחלט אפשרי!

"פעילות העמותה הסתיימה בלית ברירה אבל בלב שלם ובידיעה שניסינו הכל כולל הכל כדי להמשיך ולהציל. ושוב, תודה על הכל! גם למי שבמו ידיו והתנהגותו גרם לשבירתנו המנטלית והנפשית."
